Trippin

Trip to Baldy summit today was perfect. Took the easy way so we had more time and energy to explore off trail. Took the lifts to Notch. Nice ride and cuts off about 4 miles r.t. Devils Backbone to summit and then explored places i always look at but never go. Went to the rim of the bowl which was stunning. So dramatic up there. Nice to relax for once instead of just blasting through.

A Thought

My uncle has a country place, that no one knows about
He says it used to be a farm, before the motor law
And on Sundays I elude the eyes and hop the turbine freight
To far outside the wire, where my white haired uncle waits.

Jump to the ground
As the turbo slows to cross the borderline
Run like the wind,
As excitement shivers up and down my spine
Down in his barn
My uncle preserved for me, an old machine
For fifty odd years
To keep it as new has been his dearest dream

I strip awat the old debris that hides a shining car
A brilliant red barchetta from a better, vanished time
I fire up the willing engine, responding with a roar
Tires spitting gravel, I commit my weekly crime...

Wind in my hair
Shifting and drifting
Mechanical Music
Adrenalin surge

Well weathered leather
Hot metal and oil
The scented country air
Sunlight on chrome
The blur of the landscape
Every nerve aware

Suddenly, ahead of me, accros the mountain side
A gleaming alloy air car shoots towards me, two lanes wide
I spin around with shrieking tires to run the deadly race
Go screaming through the valley as another joins the chase

Drive like the wind
Straining the limits of machine and man
Laughing out loud
With fear and hope ive got a desperate plan

At the one lane bridge
i leave the giands stranded
At the river side
Race back to the farm
To dream with my uncle
At the fireside

Words by Neil Peart

For gods sake think about a day when the are all gone. Preserve old machines and let them run!

Sunny Day

I liked these paintings. I had a whole series like them, all using a transparent style with simple shapes and bright colors. Once I get them out of my system I moved on.

Try Again

Looking down from the buffs at trails. This is still one of the most uncongested stretches of coast in Southern California.

Looking North to the reactors at San O. Surfing here is great. Its not the best wave but the solitude and undeveloped coastline is worth it. Thanks SCE and the USMC.

Hell Bent for Leather

This is Sonny. She loves the snow. She will cover three times the distance I do in a day in a day. Back and forth back and forth. She loves to be outdoors.
